Police General Inspectorate: Almost 6,400 offences related to weapons, hazardous substances in H1

Police officers of the central and territorial structures specialized in weapons, explosives and hazardous substances solved in H1 6,344 major offences, as follows: 3,128 related to weapons and ammunitions regime; 1,159 to poaching; 145 to explosives; 78 to trafficking in toxic products or substances; 846 to violations of the law on explosives; and 240 to breaches of environmental protection regulations.

According to a Police General Inspectorate (IGPR) release issued on Monday for Agerpres, the law-enforcing personnel confiscated in the first half of the year 101 lethal weapons, 23 non-lethal ones, 3,776,357 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, 3,417 kg of game meat, and 34 game trophies; 261 game traps were taken out.

Also seized were 5,636 kg of pyrotechnic items, 8 kg of explosives, 23,674 kg of toxic substances, 159,224 kg of plant-protecting products, 58 kg of mercury and 63,222 kg of hazardous waste.

As many as 3,448 gun permits were revoked and 409 were suspended.

In the same period, police officers fined legal non-lethal weapons holders 229,945, ordered 290 suspensions and revoked 1,767 permits to hold such weapons.
