Former Finance Minister Valcov remains under judicial control

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) on Tuesday decided to keep the judicial control measure against former Finance Minister Darius Valcov, in the case in which he faces trial for influence peddling.

The other defendants in the case, Lucian Petrut Susala, Minel Prina, Petre Bogdan Timofte and Constantin Tomescu, will also remain under judicial control.

Darius Valcov was indicted by the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA)  on May 21, 2015 on charges of influence peddling, money laundering, conducting financial operations such as trade acts, incompatible with his office, powers or responsibilities, and concluding on a recurring basis financial transactions by using the information obtained due to his office, powers or responsibilities.

On June 23 Valcov was released after two months of preventive arrest, but was however placed under judicial control.
