New motor vehicle registrations up 15pct in July 2015

The number of new motor vehicle registrations went up in July by 14.72 per cent, to 12,253 units, compared with the same month of the previous year, according to the data of the Driving Licences and Car Registration Directorate (DRPCIV) released on Monday.

According to the source, in July 2015, of the total number of new vehicles registered, 9,253 units were represented by motor cars, up 10.58 per cent from the corresponding month of 2014, when 8,368 units were registered.

In terms of car makes registered in July, Dacia kept the first position, with 3,434 units, in a 19.90 per cent increase from July last year, while Skoda ranked second with 765 units (+1.86 per cent), followed by Volskwagen with 729 units (-4.83 per cent) and Ford, with 692 units (-8.22 per cent).

The official data of the Driving Licences and Car Registration Directorate reveal that at the end of 2014, Romania’s national car fleet reached 6,270,615 units, increasing 4.77 per cent from 2013, when it counted 5.98 million units.
