Soprano Valentina Nafornita, the rising star of the Vienna State Opera, will take the stage on Wednesday at the Queen’s Hall, performing in the official selection of the 2015 Edinburgh Festival.
According to a release to Agerpres of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, the acclaimed soprano will be accompanied by pianist Roger Vignoles, who is internationally recognised as one of the world’s most distinguished piano accompanists and considered a world authority in vocal chamber music and opera.
The recital will be a selection from the successful Romantic repertoire, including pieces by Faure, Liszt, Bartok, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak; the concert will be broadcast live by BBC Radio 3.
The event takes place with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
A graduate of the National Music University of Bucharest, the 1987-born Valentina Nafornita is the youngest singer to have won the “BBC Cardiff Singer of the World” competition, in 2011.
