Policemen arrested in the first six months of this year a number of 595 persons whom the Romanian authorities had reported the international watch list, and 62 persons were tracked down abroad for extradition.
“The International Criminal Police Organization – INTERPOL, within which Romania is a founding member, was created as a reaction to the development of international crime. In the first half of 2015, through the INTERPOL channel, a number of 82,837 operational messages were processed. In regards to the international watch list, in the first six months of the year a number of 595 persons, whom the Romanian authorities had reported the international watch list, were arrested, and other 62 persons were tracked down abroad for extradition ,” the Romanian Police Inspectorate General (IGPR) informs in a release sent to Agerpres on Sunday.
According to the source, 68 persons were arrested or tracked down outside the Schengen Area, in countries such as Russia, USA, Cyprus, Canada, Peru, Israel, Turkey, Panama, Ukraine, Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.
“The operational information exchange conducted in this interval determined the revocation of 499 persons from the watch list following extradition and the transfer to Romania of 184 persons for continuing their prison sentence,” the release also shows.
