The Timisoara Art Museum (MArT) has opened on Sunday Henri Matisse – Triumph of Modernism international exhibition, in the presence of MArT director, professor Victor Neumann, and Thomas Emmerling, the exhibition’s curator.
“The exhibition dedicated to Matisse is part of a MArT project aimed at offering the public the opportunity to admire, in Timisoara, works by great masters of European art: Rembrandt, Picasso, Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec or Chagall. Comprising 110 lithography works, the exhibition presents one of the most direct expressions of the thoughts and expressiveness of the brilliant artist. The viewer will be able to notice, in the works exhibited, Matisse’s attempts to solve certain issues of conceptual, compositional or stylistic nature found in many of his famous paintings,” Victor Neumann told Agerpres.
The MArT director stressed that Henri Matisse (1869-1954) is regarded, alongside Pablo Picasso and Marcel Duchamp, as one of the artists who defined the new directions in the fine art at the debut of the 20th century.
The exhibition can be visited Tuesday to Sunday, until September 20, between 10,00 and 17,30.
