Young Romanian guitar player Alecu Ciapi to open Forum Gitarre Wien Festival

Young Romanian guitar player Alecu Ciapi will perform on Monday in the opening of the 25th international music festival Forum Gitarre Wien, running between August 24 – 30 in Vienna.
The opening concert will take place at the Ehrbar Hall of the Prayner Conservatory; the 17-year old Romanian artist will be accompanied by Spanish guitarist Margarita Escarpa, informs a release of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna sent on Thursday to Agerpres.
Austria’s largest classical guitar festival, Forum Gitarre Wien was founded in 1990 by Jorge Panetsos and Gerald Smrzek and unfolds under the aegis of the Cultural Department of the Vienna Municipality. Romanian violinmaker Constantin Dumitriu attended the festival in the previous years.
This year the festival features concerts of classical music, exhibitions of scores and musical instruments, as well as master classes with the participation of musicians, composers and producers of international fame.
The 20th International Tournament Competition addressing musicians aged up to 32 and the 18th International Youth Competition (reserved for musicians aged up to 17) will also take place on the occasion of the festival.
The jury will announce the winners at the awards gala set on August 30, as of 18:30 hrs.
Alecu Ciapi won more than 50 awards at national and international competitions and festivals.
