Liviu Dragnea: There is no blacklist within PSD

Social Democratic Party (PSD) Interim President Liviu Dragnea talked on Thursday, after the consultations held by political party leaders on the issue of the Fiscal Code, about Ilie Sarbu’s situation. Liviu Dragnea stated that he does not have a blacklist that includes the names of certain party members as rumoured by the press.
Liviu Dragnea praised Ilie Sarbu when asked about the latter’s departure from the position of leader of PSD Senators. “Some website claimed that I have a blacklist. There is no such thing. Ilie Sarbu is an important, experienced politician, he has helped the party a lot. I did not talk with him in order for him to tell me, beyond the leaks, that he wants to leave the party or the Senate or something of this sort. I do not make black lists,” Liviu Drangea stated.
According to PSD sources, Ilie Sarbu will step down from the helm of PSD’s group of Senators, a decision set to be taken during the PSD MPs’ meeting on Sunday, a meeting that will be attended by Dragnea.
The names of those proposed to take over the vacated position have been presented during the informal talks that took place within PSD. Mihai Fifor, Chairman of the Transport and Energy Commission, Constantin Mitu, Chairman of the Labour Commission, and former Education Minister Ecaterina Andronescu are among the top favourites. Ioan Chelaru, the Senate’s Deputy Speaker, and Senator Nicolae Serban were also among those proposed.
