Renovation of Lac 3 Villa where Iohannis will live, on the final stretch

Six months have passed since the start of renovation works on the Lac 3 Villa where President Klaus Iohannis will live and the works are still unfinished. According to pictures taken by Romania TV at the villa, trucks carrying construction materials could be seen coming and going around the clock. Works are now focused on the renovation of the exterior of the building and the replacement of its window frames, stiripesurse.ro writes.
Works on the Lac 3 Villa are on the final stretch six months after they started. Workers are already focusing on renovating the exterior of the building, judging by the renovation company trucks that were seen on Tuesday in the courtyard of the Presidential Villa, Romania TV informs. Renovation works have progressed to the point in which window frames are being replaced.
Social Democrat Party (PSD) Senator Liviu Pop stated on Romania TV that the works on the Lac 3 Villa are part of a contract signed by the Presidential Administration and RA-APPS.
“Everything that was done was done on the basis of an agreement between the two institutions. I believe they are on schedule. (…) This delay shows that in Romania we are not working at full capacity. Basically the President should have moved in after a short while. I don’t believe that in America President Obama waited 6-7 months,” Pop stated.
On the other hand, National Liberal Party (PNL) Lower Chamber MP Raluca Turcan believes that the fact that the Head of State has not been offered the protocol villa eight months into his term is inadmissible.
“I find it abnormal that 8 months into the president’s term the Romanian state would not place at his disposal a house in which he could move. (…) These investments had been scheduled a long time ago. It is completely erroneous and malicious to say that these investments started now, at President Iohannis’s request. These investments and tenders are run by RA-APPS, which is an institution subordinated to the Government. (…) I find that things are presented artificially in the public space. The investments are made by the Romanian Government, the Head of Government is Victor Ponta, who is in a perpetual war with Klaus Iohannis,” Raluca Turcan stated on Romania TV.
Raluca Turcan pointed out that she does not give credence to the scenarios concerning the luxury conditions that Iohannis wanted to find at the Lac 3 Villa, considering that she knows that the President’s home in Sibiu is “an example of modesty.”
“It is an absolutely normal home, single-floor, with a lot of green space. I find it hard to believe that, once President, Klaus Iohannis the man has exaggerated tastes and demands,” Turcan said.
