PM announces having had working meeting with President on Moldova topic

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday said he had a working meeting with President Klaus Iohannis on the Republic of Moldova topic.

“Working meeting with the President. Informed on the Republic of Moldova. Consensus – Romania remains Moldova’s staunchest supporter ,” Ponta wrote on Twitter.

During a working visit to Chisinau last Thursday, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced the extension of an agreement on non-refundable aid for the Republic of Moldova.

He also discussed with his Moldovan counterpart Valeriu Strelet the latest and next developments in Romania and Moldova achieving energy interconnection projects agreed upon under an intergovernmental memorandum singed in May.

The Romanian Prime Minister’s visit to Chisinau took place at the invitation of Prime Minister Strelet on the occasion of the Republic of Moldova Independence Day celebration. Part of the visit, Ponta met President Nicolae Timofti, as well as Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu
