Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) will have a new CEO starting this autumn. BCR’s Supervisory Council appointed Sergiu Manea as the bank’s new CEO. Tomas Spurny, the bank’s current CEO, decided to resign and will step down in September from the position he has held for the past three and a half years.
Spurny has decided to leave BCR in order to focus on other professional opportunities, according to a communiqué released on Monday by the largest bank in Romania. Spurny has been BCR’s CEO for the past three and a half years, his mandate being to manage a wide-ranging restructuring and financial recovery process.
Sergiu Manea will take over as CEO on October 1. His mandate has to be first approved by the National Bank of Romania (BNR). Manea joined BCR in 2012. He previously worked at international level for over 15 years, holding managerial positions in investment and corporate banking. This is the first time when Erste appoints a Romanian at the helm of BCR.
