Romania’s international reserves up by EUR 231 M

On August 31, the National Bank of Romania’s foreign currency reserves stood at EUR 29.341 bln, up from EUR 29.152 bln on July 31.
According to BNR, the following operations took place in August: inflows of EUR 654 M, representing changes in forex-denominated minimum reserve requirements, inflows into Finance Ministry accounts, inflows into the European Commission’s account, etc.; outflows of EUR 465 M, representing changes in forex-denominated minimum reserve requirements, servicing of forex-denominated public debt, etc.
The gold reserve remained stable at 103.7 tons. Considering the evolution of international commodity prices, its value stood at EUR 3.328 bln. Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) stood at EUR 32.669 bln on August 31, compared to EUR 32.438 bln on July 31.
In September, the payments due on the forex-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt total approximately EUR 349 M.
