Seasonally adjusted unemployment in Romania was 6.8 per cent at end-July 2015, the same as in the previous month and in July 2014, according to provisional data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Tuesday.
The number of unemployed persons in the 15-74-year age bracket estimated for July 2015 is 630,000, slightly up from 627,000 in June 2015, but unchanged from July 2014. Unemployment in the 25-74-year age bracket for July 2015 is estimated at 5.6 percent – 6.5 percent for men and 4.4 percent for women, says INS.
According to the same data, the unemployed in the 25-74 year bracket made up 76.3 percent of the estimated July 2015 figures.
Men’s unemployment rate was higher than that of women by 2.2 percentage points, 7.8 percent to 5.6 percent.
The unemployed, according to International Labour Organisation (ILO) definition, are persons aged 15-74 who simultaneously meet the following 3 conditions: they do not have a job, they are available to start work in the following two weeks, they were actively seeking work any time during the last four weeks
