The double bass player of the century to perform once again in Romania

On October 10 and 11, Jazz Night Out stars as special guest the artist nicknamed “the double bass player of the century, Avishai Cohen, who once again visits Romania two perform two concerts, expected to be outstanding.
The Israeli artist will enter the stage of the Radio Hall in Bucharest promoting “From Darkness”, the latest album released by his trio, Avishai Cohen Trio. The artist describes this album as his most rhythmical work so far, brimming with African, Arabic and Latin influences.
The new composition reveal the artist’s perspective on existence: “The light cannot enter without darkness. People are born in this work from darkness, and the title of the album is meant to reveal that it has a positive side as well. Music reminds us the importance of love and feelings in our life”, the musician says. Moreover, one of the most beautiful tracks of the album, “Almah Sleeping”, is inspired by Avishai’s contemplation of his daughter being asleep and about the happiness of being a father.
In the Bucharest concerts, Avishai Cohen will be accompanied by two rising talents, drummer Daniel Dor and pianist Nitai Hershkovits. Both musicians had worked on his side at the recordings of the album “From Darkness”, the organizers declared.
A composer, a fabulous instrument player, a vocalist as well as the manager of his own recording label, Razdaz Records, Avishai Cohen is at the time being one of the most charismatic artists we can see in concert. His concerts are sold out all over the globe.
Moved by all authentic things, by the sounds and dynamics of cities, by the pulse of life itself, Avishai Cohen prizes his music freedom above anything.
All along his prestigious career, Cohen performed besides Bobby McFerrin, Alicia Keys, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, with whom he had founded the band origin, a formula in which he recorded and performed for six years.
The concerts will take place at 8 pm, at the Radio Hall.
The shows are supported by the Israeli Embassy in Romania and are part of the Jazz Night Out concert series, promoted by Twin Arts.
