Traian Basescu heard at the General Prosecution Office in Gabriela Firea’s file: Legal classification changed from blackmail to threat

Former President Traian Basescu said Wednesday, upon leaving the General Prosecution Service, that prosecutors changed the classification of the offence in the court case implicating him from blackmail to threat.
“Legal classification was changed from blackmail to threat,” said Basescu.
Asked what the punishment would be for threat, Basescu said a fine or between three months and one year in prison. “That means that little by little justice gets closer to the truth,” he said.
Before getting into his car, Basescu hailed the protesters who booed him for the time he was heard by the prosecutors.
Former President Traian Basescu arrived at the General Prosecution Service on Wednesday around 11:00 hrs for hearings in a criminal case related to his alleged blackmailing by speech of Senator Gabriela Firea of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). He was greeted by two groups of people: protesters and supporters who were separated by Gendarmerie officers to prevent incidents.
“I am prepared for anything,” said Basescu.
