Former counterintelligence chief Melescanu testifies in case implicating a military doctor

Former chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) Teodor Melescanu on Friday morning showed up at the headquarters of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).

Judiciary sources told Agerpres that Melescanu has testified in a case that implicates a military doctor.

The sources allege the doctor in question is Ioan Sirbu, former manager of the Central Military Hospital in Bucharest and former head of the Medical Directorate with the National Defence Ministry.

Melescanu confirmed after the hearings that he was called as a witness in a file regarding possible offenses which took place at the Military Hospital related to the acquisition of a dental radiology equipment that has never been used.
