Urban Explosion Festival opens in Bucharest

The Urban Explosion Festival opened on Friday in the Romexpo fairs facility in Bucharest. The event dedicated to sports, culture and urban trends will continue through Sunday.

“It is the first event of this type managed by Romexpo, which mainly organizes fairs and from this year turned to different events. The festival opened with a selection of practitioners of urban sports such as rollerblading, skateboarding and ramp jumping, Head of Romexpo’s Events Department Daniela Polianschi told Agerpres.

Demonstrations of skateboard, rollerblading, flow masters, parkour and freerunning, and matches of bubble football, bike polo and roller hockey are scheduled on Friday. There’s also a Miss Urban Explosion pageant, a street dance contest, and the ‘Short Films Evening’ presented by ShortsUP starts at 8pm. The night will close with a live show of Swiss DJ Wild Pich.

Other live events will follow on Saturday – including French DJ Moody Mike’s concert from 9pm – and on Sunday, with DJ Lenyy Berlin of Ukraine on stage at 7pm.

“Urban Explosion is an event for young, dynamic audiences; we’re trying to capture the trends in this public segment we want to gather here, and a more industrial event is most suited in our opinion,” Polianschi said.

Sponsors contributed prizes for contestants – skateboards, sports equipment, cosmetics, and vouchers of Sanador clinics.

Equipment is freely available at the venue for those who want to participate in demonstrations; organizers also provide medical assistance.
