Foreign Ministry issues travel warning on Hungary-Austria motorway

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) warns the Romanian citizens in Hungary, in transit through this country or intending to travel there that the traffic is jammed on the M1 motorway around Hegyeshalom, near the border crossing point to Austria, with vehicles stuck on 11 kilometres.

According to a release of the MAE on Saturday, the Hungarian police recommends the following detours to Austria: National Road 13 to Komarom throuh Slovakia, entering Austria from Bratislava; M1 exit at Csorna, taking National Roads 85 and 84 to Sopron and entering Austria from there.

For those already stuck near Hegyeshalom, the Hungarian police will remove the median barrier at kilometre 172 allowing the U-turn back to Budapest and choosing one of the detours.
