ICHB inaugurates Romania’s largest school campus in 25 years: Senate speaker awards Romania’s international Olympics

The Speaker of the Senate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, awarded 10 of the 54 international olympics of the International Theoretical Informatics High School of Bucharest (ICHB) who brought back home this summer gold, silver and bronze medals in Olympiads and international contests. The awarding ceremony was organised on the occasion of the inauguration of the new ICHB school campus.
‘Romania becomes attractive for investment in top areas such as education and I am happy that the lines of development that I, as the Prime-Minister of Romania, established, have been continued, Senate Speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu said in his speech yesterday. He stressed that ‘Romania has become a regional and even European power in the IT industry and investment in education, primarily in the IT field, represents the basis of the major growth we have seen in the last few years.’ On the investment of Lumina Institutii de Invatamant in development the new ICHB campus, Calin Popescu Tariceanu said ‘this investment is impressive through its size, quality and especially its vision’. In the end of his address, the speaker of the Senate wished the pupils a lot of success, not before emphasising the ICHB achievements in the last 20 years, successes that have brought Romania prestige in the various international competitions.
The director general of Lumina Institutii de Invatamant, Fatih Goktas, also referred to successes and competition in his address: ‘To us, the opening of this school campus is an extra chance of bringing together under the same roof the love of education, important life principles and values we share with our students, as well as the competitive spirit that has characterised the activity of Lumina Institutii de Invatamant for over 20 years’.
The event held in the yard of the new school campus of ICHB was also attended by Andrei Gerea (Minister of Energy), and Sorin Grindeanu (Minister for the Information Society), the presidential adviser Laurentiu Stefan, senators, deputies and secretaries of state.
Lumina Instituții de Învățământ inaugurated at the beginning of this school year the biggest campus in Romania developed in the last 25 years, an outstanding investment in line with the highest European standards.
The first pupils who will enjoy the special facilities offered by the new campus beginning with the current academic year are those studying at the International Informatics Theoretical High School, an education institution that has celebrated 20 years of existence this year and which takes pride in its fame as ‘Romania’s Olympics factory’.
The new campus is a greenfield development by Lumina Institutii de Invatamant, the investment amounting to over 12 M euro. There are over 26,000 sq m of built space, 117 classrooms, 18 research and didactic labs, 3 mini-cinema halls, 4 libraries, dining rooms of approximately 600 seats, 6 covered sports halls, 6 outdoor sports fields, multi-purpose hall sitting approximately 600.
The figures easily show this is the largest school campus built in Romania in the last 25 years, a place where almost 2,200 students will receive professional and life training.
