Alina Gorghiu congratulated on her 37th birthday

After President Klaus Iohannis’ speech in Parliament, the joint meeting of the Parliament went a little out of control on alina gorghiuWednesday. In order to alleviate the tension, the interim President of PSD, Liviu Dragnea, went to the microphone and wished ‘Happy Birthday’ to the co-president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Alina Gorghiu, on her 37th birthday.
‘As I could see some commotion in the audience, I have decided to come here to wish Mrs. Alina Gorghiu Happy Birthday’, Liviu Dragnea said.
His wish was welcomed with applauses, but also laughter by the audience. Dragnea went to Gorghiu and kissed her.
From the presidium, the Speaker of the Senate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, asked: ‘I understand the parties have congratulated Mrs. Gorghiu. Anyone from the Government?’
His question caused laughter again. But the most amused was PM Victor Ponta, who commented something, had a good laugh and tapped the desk in front of him with his hands.
No one from the Government took the floor to wish Alina Gorghiu anything. When the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea, took his seat back in the presidium after a short absence, Tariceanu said: ‘When he heard about the congratulations phase, Mr. Zgonea is coming with me’.
Asked if he had, however, wished her ‘Happy Birthday’, Ponta answered: ‘Mr. Dragnea has, on behalf of PSD’. Then he noted that he would, nonetheless, make her an unusual gift. He told the reporters who asked him what gift he would give Mrs. Gorghiu: ‘I am still wishing her ‘Happy Birthday’ and I will resign on her birthday in 2017, I will give her that as a gift, but in 2017 or 2018. Liviu’s gesture was quite nice, I was happy about that, and also Eugen’s (Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici – editor’s note). PSD is elegant’, Ponta said.
Alina Gorghiu would not comment on Prime Minister’s “gift”: ‘At least on my birthday could we not talk about Mr. Ponta and talk about serious things?’
