Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) Director Eduard Hellvig, who is on an official visit to the United States, has met with CIA Director John O. Brennan; they tackled topics of mutual interest under the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the U.S.
According to a SRI release for Agerpres, in their Tuesday’s meeting, the two intelligence heads also discussed Middle East issues and security challenges generated by the migration phenomenon, points on the common agenda of the two states.
“In the context of new security challenges, the plan of discussions was structured on the cooperation between the two partner states for preventing and combating risks and threats to security,” the press release reads.
According to the cited source, the SRI Director also met with FBI high officials, with whom he talked about the cooperation between the SRI and the FBI in fighting terrorism and crime.
The agenda of Hellvig’s visit to the U.S. also includes meetings with other U.S. security agencies, reads the SRI release.
“This official visit is the expression of the close relationship between the SRI and the American security agencies; it will contribute to consolidating the Romanian-American cooperation under the Strategic Partnership,” the release underscores.
