Who will replace PNL’s Voicu as chair of Electoral Code Commission?

Liberal Mihai Voicu has resigned from the leadership of the Electoral Code Commission, considering that the members of the commission have failed to reach an agreement on the postal voting law, the Liberals accusing PSD of delaying the adoption of the draft law. Following his resignation, the Electoral Code Commission suspended its session.
The Electoral Code Commission suspended its session on Tuesday after its chairman Mihai Voicu announced his resignation, PSD Lower Chamber member Gabriela Podasca pointing out that the leaders of the parliamentary groups will meet in order to take a decision.
“We have no meeting, considering the situation created by the resignation of Chairman Mihai Voicu. I propose the suspension of the meeting until the leaders of the parliamentary groups meet and decide about the leadership of this commission,” Commission Deputy Chairman Podasca stated.
PNL representatives, including Mihai Voicu, were present at the commission meeting. Voicu made no statement concerning his resignation.
The resignation was announced on Tuesday, at a press conference, by PNL Co-President Alina Gorghiu, who stated that “this poor-taste charade” has to be put to an end, referring to the talks on the postal voting law.
“Mihai Voicu was appointed chairman of the Code Commission through a Parliament decision. We inform you today that PNL and Mihai Voicu have decided that Mihai Voicu should vacate this office. The resignation from the office of chairman of the Electoral Code Commission should be understood as a clear form of protest against the delaying of the postal voting draft,” Gorghiu stated.
She said that the whole responsibility for the failure to adopt the postal voting law belongs to PSD, which has to state clearly whether it backs this law or not.
“Starting today, the whole responsibility for the failure to adopt the postal voting law belongs to PSD. PSD has to give a straightforward answer,” Gorghiu added.
The PNL leader pointed out that the five PNL representatives that are members of the commission will always be present there in order to adopt the postal voting draft law.
“PNL’s five votes within the Electoral Code Commission will always be in favour of the postal voting draft. We have to put an end to this poor-taste charade,” Gorghiu stated.
Mihai Voicu stated that PNL has nothing left to prove about postal voting, having filed a draft law. “This bad movie has to stop, PSD has to prove it wants the postal voting law,” Voicu stated.
