Prime Minister Victor Ponta: As a Romanian politician, I have always considered myself a friend of China

It gives me great pleasure to express the deepest measure of my respect and my sincere congratulations for the people of China with the occasion of its National Day.
As a Romanian politician, I have always considered myself a friend of China and I have always pleaded in favor of stronger and more consistent political and economic relations between our two countries. Romania and China have a history of friendship and cooperation and I hope that we continue to build a better future for our societies, along this path of beneficial interaction. I believe that there are many lessons Romania can learn from China’s steps towards modernization and development and that there are many fields where increased cooperation can help us achieve important results.
I have been, and I steadily remain, an ardent supporter of the development of the relations between Romania and the People’s Republic of China. Already, our two countries are cooperating in valuable projects, and this cooperation can certainly be extended. In energy and in infrastructure – to quote only two areas of involvement – Chinese investment can help Romania maintain a high level of economic growth and we can build together exciting job-creating projects.
I am extremely proud that Bucharest was, two years ago, the host city of the China-CEEC Summit, a major political event and, at the same time, the occasion for the development of numerous mutually beneficial ventures and cooperation initiatives.
I want to assure our Chinese friends and partners of our respect and our dedication to further improve and strengthen what is already a strong political and economic relationship!
