President Klaus Iohannis is topping the Romanians’ confidence ranking, followed by Governor of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) Mugur Isarescu, Romania’s ambassador to the US George Maior and Prime Minister Victor Ponta, according to findings of an INSCOP – ADEVARUL barometer commissioned by Adevarul daily and conducted by INSCOP.
According to the poll, 58.6 percent of the respondents said they have a great deal and quite a lot of confidence in President Iohannis (slightly down from 61.6 percent in July).
The President is followed by BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu – 41.6 percent a great deal and quite a lot of confidence, compared with 42.8 percent in July; George Maior is third, with 29.7 percent of the options (down from 27.6 percent in July). Fourth is Prime Minister Victor Ponta – 22.8 a great deal and quite a lot of confidence (as against 21.7 percent in July).
Fifth in the confidence ranking is Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea – 21.7 percent a great deal and quite a lot of confidence (up from 17.4 percent in July). Next are Director of Romania’s Intelligence Service (SRI) Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu – 20.3 percent (up from 19.7 percent in July); co-chair of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) Calin Popescu-Tariceanu – 18.4 percent (16 percent in July); co-chair of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Alina Gorghiu – 16.8 percent (15 percent in July); interim national leader of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), major at rule, Liviu Dragnea – 16 percent (9.2 percent in July); former Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu – 15.8 percent (16.8 percent in July); former PSD national leader Mircea Geoana – 15.6 percent (16.1 percent in July); former President Traian Basescu – 15.5 percent (15 percent in July); former Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu – 13.9 percent (21.8 percent in July).
Bringing up the rear in the confidence ranking are PNL co-chair Vasile Blaga, commending 13.2 of a great deal and quite a lot of confidence (10.9 percent in July); former Justice Minister Monica Macovei – 12.8 percent (14.4 percent in July); Senator Crin Antonescu – 10.6 percent; former President Ion Iliescu – 9.3 percent (9 percent in July); former Minister of Development and Tourism Elena Udrea – 5.2 percent (5.1 percent in July), and national leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor – 4.1 percent (2.3 percent in July).
The INSCOP – ADEVARUL on Romania barometer was commissioned by Adevarul daily and conducted by INSCOP Research, September 10-15, 2015, on a representative sample of 1,085 respondents aged 18 years and above. It has a plus/ minus 3 percent error margin and an accuracy rate of 95 percent. The method used was interviewing the respondents at their home.
