Ship exports up by 23 pc in H1

The Romanian shipyards’ exports have risen in the first six months of this year by 23 per cent to EUR 346.1 M, according to National Statistics Institute (INS) data. INS points out that the data include the exports of new products as well as the exports that came about following manufacturing and upgrading works, irrespective of their origin.
According to zf.ro, the best-selling ships were packet boats, cruise ships, ferries, cargo ships, barges and similar ships for the transport of passengers or freight, their total value being EUR 215.3 M. These types of ships were mostly sold to the Marshall Islands, a small republic located in the Pacific Ocean (EUR 112.6 M), and to Norway (approx. EUR 100 M). Compared to last year, the exports of these types of ships have grown by over 7 per cent.
