Ponta: For me to resign and let Gorghiu and Predoiu take over would mean betrayal

Prime-Minister Victor Ponta said on Thursday that it would be betrayal for him to resign office and let Catalin Predoiu and Alina Gorghiu take over the government. At the same time, he said ‘as long as there is a coalition support, I will continue as the prime-minister until the November election’.
‘The current Government is not private property. It is a government of the PSD-ALDE-UNPR-minorities coalition, as a colleague was saying and, on Tuesday, the coalition supported this government during the no-confidence vote.
I am ready to support a better formula at any time. This is also why I have not resigned. For me to resign and let Gorghiu and Predoiu take over would mean betrayal’, Victor Ponta said during a press conference in Targu Jiu on Thursday.
‘As long as there is coalition support, I will stay until the election. After that, even if the support is still there, I am not staying, I am doing my duty’, added the premier.
