Energy Ministry: 300 specialists needed for new nuclear reactor in Mioveni (Arges)

Another 300 specialists will be needed in order to implement the ALFRED (Advanced Lead Fast Reactor Demonstrator) project at the Nuclear Research Institute (INC) in Mioveni, Arges County, Energy Ministry Secretary of State Bogdan Badea stated on Friday. According to the official, the project will also result in the creation of another 2,000 jobs in the horizontal industry.
“We are talking about fourth generation nuclear technology capable of ensuring the much more efficient use of uranium resources, the reduction of nuclear waste and, at the same time, the boosting of the degree of nuclear safety. (…) I point out that the new reactor will mean another 300 specialists employed at ICN and it is estimated that another 2,000 jobs will be created horizontally,” Badea stated after his visit at the ICN and at the Nuclear Fuel Plant in Mioveni, Arges County.
According to the same source, the goal of the ALFRED project promoted by ANSALDO (Italy), ICN (Romania) and ENEA (Italy) is the construction of a 100-Mwh, fourth generation European lead reactor demonstrator in Mioveni, Romania.
