Children’s theatre shows to attend the annual international competition

Until October 10, “Ion Creanga” Theatre invites both children and grown-ups to attend one of the most spectacular adventures – the eleventh edition of the “100, 1,000, 1,000,000 Stories” International Children’s Theatre Festival.
The Festival offers a great variety of performances – drama theatre, musical, dance theatre and circus, as well as children’s workshops will bring the magic of fairy tales in the welcoming halls of Bucharest Theatres: Excelsior Theatre, the Comical Opera for Children, The Comedy Theatre (the new hall), Creart and the National Dance Centre of Bucharest.
Over 40 events will be held during the eight days of theatre and stories, included in two competition sections (performances for age ranges of 1 to 6, and respectively over 6), and in the Off section, outside the competition, dedicated to interactive performances and additional events. The selection of the competition program was made by theatrologist Carmen Stanciu, who chose performances that cross language or cultural barriers, sensitive performances about fears and about flying, about the sound of colours and about the taste of sounds.
The guests of the present edition include theatres La Baracca Testoni Ragazzi, Teatro Prova, Antonio Panzuto, TAM Teatromusica and Principio Attivo from Italy, Roseland Musical and Markeline from Spain, The Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads (Slovakia), Dansmakers Amsterdam (Holland), The National Theatre of Monkey Country and Kunos Circus (Switzerland), Kabare Pupala (Germany), Orna Porat Theatre (Israel) and, for the first time in Europe, Mandragora Circo from Argentine.
Moreover, the audience will have the opportunity to watch some of the most valuable companies of children and youth theatres in the country: the Ariel Theatre (Targu Mures), the Youth Theatre (Piatra Neamt), the Excelsior Theatre (Bucharest), the “Arcadia” Company of the Queen Marie Theatre (Oradea) or Arlecchino Theatre (Brasov).
The best shows, as well as the best acting performances will be rewarded on Saturday, October 10, during the Closing Gala. The program of the festival, as well as the guide of the “Most Beautiful Fairy Tales Narrated Shortly for Parents” may be viewed and downloaded on the website www.fitc.ro or on www.teatrulioncreanga.ro.
