President Iohannis receives US ambassador at Cotroceni Palace

Deepening cooperation on security, as well as enhancing the political dialogue were the main topics approached on Monday by President Klaus Iohannis upon receiving at the Cotroceni Palace the new ambassador of the United States of America, Hans Klemm, the Presidential Administration informs.

The talks focused on the evolution of the bilateral relations, and in this respect, the two officials appreciated in particular the positive results of the talks in Washington between Romania’s head of state and the US Vice-President, Joe Biden.

Likewise, they agreed on the importance of the actions to be carried out for the enforcement of the matters talked on the occasion of the visit by Romania’s President to Washington aiming at the strengthening of the Romanian-US Strategic Partnership.

The Presidential Administration stresses that, in this context, the mutual interest for deepening cooperation on security, and for enhancing the political dialogue, at high level included, was emphasized.

“President Klaus Iohannis insisted, at the same time, upon the necessity to strengthen the Strategic Partnership’s economic dimension. He has also reaffirmed our country’s interest in contributing to warranting regional security and stability in a tight coordination and collaboration with the US,” the source adds.
