Deputy Prime Minister Oprea confers award to Head of FBI Office in Romania

Russell Ashenden, the Head of the FBI Office in Romania, has received the Romanian Interior Ministry’s Honorary Plaque.
The award was handed over to him by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea at a ceremony that took place on Thursday at the Interior Ministry headquarters.
The event was announced by an Interior Ministry (MAI) communiqué that offered no details about any recent special action taken jointly by the MAI and FBI.
According to the communiqué, the award was offered “as a sign of appreciation for the contribution brought to the consolidation of relations between MAI and law-enforcement structures in the United States of America.”
“In the internal affairs domain we are cooperating very well, particularly when it comes to combating IT criminality and drug trafficking. The FBI’s intelligence and operational support was substantial in the handling of extremely complex joint cases and I am certain it will remain this way,” Deputy PM Oprea stated.
Russell Ashenden accompanied Deputy PM Gabriel Oprea in his recent visit to the United States.
