Mihai Seplecan wants to move from PNL to UNPR

The President of Cluj County Council, Mihai Seplecan, has announced his intention to run for mayor of Cluj-Napoca for Gabriel Oprea’s UNPR, although he is still a member of PNL.
‘Like Mr. Oprea, I am a man of the law, I am upright and I keep my word. I only do what I have done so far – keep my political commitment, deliver on the promises I have made to the citizens: respect for the law, respect for the citizens of this nation, commitment to general welfare, to a decent living, fight against theft and enforcement of the law. (…) In 2016 I will be the mayor of Cluj-Napoca with the support and endorsement of those who like the kind of politics that I propose: honest, vertical, in the interest of the public, without theft and without political bias. I will be the mayor of the city of Cluj-Napoca with the support and endorsement of Deputy Prime-Minister Gabriel Oprea and UNPR’, Seplecan states in a press release quoted by transilvaniareporter.ro.

At the end of September, the PNL Cluj leaders decided to withdraw their political support from Seplecan, for the reason that he was blocking the projects of the county. Afterwards, Mihai Seplecan said that, in the 2016 election, he was no longer interested in the presidency of the county council and that he would run for mayor of the city of Cluj Napoca.
During the County Political Bureau meeting on Friday, PNL decided to commence the procedure for expelling Seplecan from the party.
UNPR has not reacted to Seplecan’s assertions on the 2016 local election.
