Labour Minister Rovana Plumb told a debate on Tuesday on amending youth legislation that one of the Government’s main priorities is speeding up the implementation of a guarantee arrangement for young people that comprises career guidance and orientation as well as employment.
She sad that 100,000 young people out of 255,000 who qualified for the programme have found jobs since 2014.
‘I have discussed with the Minister for European Funds Marius Nica and we will come up with a national arrangement for the employment of young people, because employment is the project target.
There are some measures that the Government has already taken upon the suggestions of those of you who submitted them. (…) We have set a target under operational programme human resources for the youth that by 2020 a number of 441,000 young people will benefit from the programme, for which RON 471 million have been earmarked,’ Plumb told a debate on amending youth legislation as a priority on the agenda of political parties held by the Youth Policy Department of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), major at rule.
Plumb added that unemployment among young people has significantly decreased from 25 percent in 2012 to 20.4 percent today.
