International Caviar Corporation makes debut on AeRO*One of the most novel companies in Romania thrives in one of the poorest cities

The representatives of the International Caviar Corporation (ICC), a company based in Calan, Hunedoara County, attended the official opening of the trading day at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) on Wednesday, October 21. The trading day marked the company’s debut on the AeRO trading market, following its transfer from Rasdaq.

“The moment chosen for floating the International Caviar Corporation on the new AeRO market could not have been better. Five months ago, on April 27, the shareholders decided to increase the company’s capital. We took this decision bearing in mind that in the last 15 years we built a perfect organization for the production of caviar. Now we want to offer our clients the opportunity to take part, as shareholders, in the success of our business. The client wants the perfect quality of caviar at a good price, and this is what we have been offering our clients since 2008,” said Roland Schroder, majority shareholder and member of International Caviar Corporation’s Board of Directors.
Roland Schroder is the manager of the most important global company for the production of natural caviar. International Caviar Corporation is the depositary of the best know-how in the reproduction, feeding and growing of sturgeons, a species of fish “responsible” for the production of sturgeon caviar, in fish farms. The International Caviar Corporation owns a large stock of various types of sturgeons. The breeding stations are located in Germany, but the company has fish farms and fishing licences for Danube sturgeons in Romania.

In December 2007, the German entrepreneur bought Agromec SA, a company based in Calan, Hunedoara County. Calan was a single-industry town, the only large steelworks centre producing pig iron. Its steel industry died immediately after 1990. Agromec was one of the relatively healthy companies, having no debts, and had been traded on Rasdaq since 1999. By being traded on the stock exchange, the former Agromec Calan basically became a gateway for businesses engaged in sturgeon farming and the production of caviar. Thanks to the ICC, life in the small town located in Strei Valley remains vibrant.

In 2016, International Caviar Corporation will become a holding company which will fully own Germany’s ICC Aquakultur Deutschland GmbH and Fischzucht Zippelsforde GmbH. At the same time, International Caviar Corporation will own the Zippelsforde sturgeon company, following a merger with ICC Preussen Kaviar GmbH.
