PNL’s Blaga, asked about an eventual collaboration with Basescu: The answer is a firm ‘No’

Co-President of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Vasile Blaga declared on Saturday in Buzau, in response to a question, that although “you should never say never in politics”, discussions about a potential collaboration with PMP and Traian Basescu would only get a firm no from his behalf, Mediafax reported.
“Although you should never say never in politics, the answer is a firm no, whenever the topic of a collaboration with PMP and Traian Basescu comes up. After we democratically chose Iohannis as our candidate in the electoral campaign, I remember Mr. President’s words. I will always call him that way, as long as I live, because he was my President in the party and the President of this country: “Vasile, you could have found someone better”. Perhaps he was referring to Ponta”, Vasile Blaga declared in a joint press conference with Alina Gorghiu and Catalin Predoiu.

Vasile Blaga added that an eventual collaboration with Basescu is also out of the question because he had joined Victor Ponta in the presidential campaign in his attempts to undermine the chances of PNL candidate Klaus Iohannis.

“In the pre-campaign and during the campaign, they tried and, at one point, succeeded to remove the PNL candidate from the game: both the power – Ponta – and the opposition – Traian Basescu. Everybody involved at that time in the campaign realized that there was something wrong going on. We replied with a powerful campaign and solved the issue. If Mr. Basescu has high hopes that people of his former party would join PMP, he is wrong”, Vasile Blaga warned.
