ONRC: Number of insolvent companies nine months into 2015, down 54.6pct

The number of commercial companies that filed for insolvency in the first nine months of this year was 7,575, down 54.62pct year on year, according to the data released on Friday by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

Most insolvency cases were in Bucharest – 1,356 (down 49.87pct from September 2014), Bihor County – 399 (-64.91pct) and Timis County – 391 (-39.19pct). The only county where there was an increase in such cases is Maramures, with 345 cases, up by 6.81pct from the same period of 2014.

In terms of sectors, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles saw highest number of insolvency cases – 2,470, but down 45.7pct.

In the first nine months of this year, as many as 90,387 merchants were registered, up by 14.41pct from the same period of 2014, with most of these operating in wholesale trade, namely 23,766. September saw the registration of 9,767 individuals and legal entities.
