Queen Marie’s heart moved to Pelisor Castle

By decision of His Majesty King Mihai, Queen Marie’s heart will be placed in the Golden Salon of the Pelisor Castle, the place where it beat for the last time. The relic will be transferred within a procession that will start on 3 November from the National History Museum and will rest in the Golden Salon of the Pelisor Castle, where the Queen died on Monday. 18 July 1938. Prince Radu, Princess Maria, Archduchess Maria Magdalena of Austria and her spouse, Baron Hanns Ulrich von Holzhausen, representatives of national and local authorities, or the National History Museum and of the Peles National Museum, as well as members of the clergy and of the House of His Majesty the King . Queen Marie’s last wish was for her heart to rest at he chapel she had especially designated for that purpose at Balcic. However, geopolitical developments made it impossible in 1940, only two years after the sovereign’s death.
