Outgoing Vice PM Oprea: I’ve decided with Ponta giving up mandate is best solution

Vice Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea said at the Palace of Parliament on Wednesday that he had discussed with Prime Minister Victor Ponta Tuesday night and decided that tendering resignation from Government head is the best solution.

“Last night I discussed with Premier Victor Ponta from 9pm till 11pm and together we decided that we must listen to the voice of the street, the Romanians’ reason and that the best solution is for Prime Minister Ponta to give up his mandate. This has been done and it was normal and fair that the prime minister said it”, said Oprea, also a Minister of Internal Affairs in the outgoing Victor Ponta cabinet.

UNPR: We support together with the Coalition any political solution that ensures Romania’s stability

The National Union for Romania’s Progress (UNPR) aims to support any political solution that ensures the stability of Romania, in the context of the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

“UNPR has taken note of the grievances expressed by those who protested yesterday evening in Bucharest and other cities in the country. UNPR president fully supports PM Victor Ponta’s decision to resign. Moreover, the decision was taken jointly by Mr. Victor Ponta and Mr. Gabriel Oprea during consultations held by the two in the evening of November 3. UNPR reaffirms its determination to support together with the Coalition any political solution that ensures the stability of Romania”, a press release sent by UNPR states.

The party announced it will participate in the effort the entire political class must take part in today in order to answer the expectations of the society.

“It is UNPR’s obligation and, in equal measure, it is the obligation of all political leaders and all political parties to find solutions that can repair the link between voters and those elected, between tax payers and institutions, between society and politics,” the press release adds.
