Orange has launched for consumer testing the Orange Smart Home solution that allows users to monitor and control their homes from the distance through their mobile phones.
“The increasingly rapid evolution of technology moves us increasingly closer to the moment in which the phone will basically become the remote control of our lives. Apart from all the equipment and gadgets we use at home, the innovations of recent years help us have better control of our homes through the use of the mobile phone, anytime and anyplace, in order to enjoy a more comfortable and safer life and to consume less energy,” Julien Ducarroz (photo L), Orange Romania Chief Commercial Officer, stated.
The Orange Smart Home solution includes 6 types of sensors – smoke sensor, movement sensor, flooding sensor, sensor for door/window, smart plug and Wi-Fi camera – connected to a central device. All these devices are wireless and easy to install.
Monitoring and controlling the home from a distance will be possible by using the Orange Smart Home on the phone or tablet, or an online platform on the PC. Based on their own needs, clients will be able to program the equipment for various actions and scenarios. For instance, users will be able to choose to receive SMS or e-mail alerts when the movement sensor is activated, but also to start video recording with the Wi-Fi camera.
Since this is an innovative proposition on the mobile phone market, Orange has started a consumer testing session – for clients as well as employees from the company’s various departments – in order to take into account their feedback from real testing ahead of the commercial launch and to offer them an experience that matches their requirements and expectations. Thus, participants are invited to constantly offer their feedback on a dedicated platform, over a period of 2 months. Those who want to be part of the 50 clients selected to test out Orange Smart Home can file their applications on www.orange.ro/smartphone by November 15.
