Premier Sorin Cimpeanu: ‘Bucharest and 26 counties have no snow cleaning contracts’

Interim PM Sorin Cimpeanu has informed that Bucharest and 26 counties had not signed snow removal contracts yet, the main problem being the lack of interested providers. The official also noted that district heating was another priority of the interim Cabinet.
‘We have found there were snow clearing contracts in place for 15 counties. We were told the contracts for the remaining 26 counties were in progress and we have asked that they should be signed by the end of November’, Sorin Cimpeanu said after the videoconference with the prefects as well as relevant agencies and ministries, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MAI).
The acting PM added that one of the administrative units that had no snow clearing contracts in place was Bucharest and stressed that ‘it is very important’ to deal with the matter as soon as possible.
The Bucharest Municipality noted, afterwards, that the statement made by the interim PM Sorin Cimpeanu was incorrect, and that all the six districts of the Capital had valid snow clearing contracts in place.
The Bucharest Municipality also notes that the municipal sanitation operators and the local administrations of Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 have already remitted the snow clearing and dicing programmes for the 2015 – 2016 winter season and that District 5 receives the service from the Bucharest Municipality.
