Jazz pianist Lucian Ban, on tour with Elevation

On November 14, starting at 8 PM, at ARCUB Batiste Hall, JAZZAJ presents in premiere in Romania the new album by Elevation – “Songs from Afar”. On this highly personal album, suggestively titled “Songs from Afar”, reputed Romania-based jazz pianist Lucian Ban launches the second CD of the quartet Elevation during a European tour. The new recording released by the band was edited by the famous American record label . Sunnyside Records, with a consistent support from behalf of Bistrita Society of concerts.

Besides American saxophonist Abraham Burton, double bass player John Hebert, drummer Eric McPherson and their special guest, American violinist and Grammy – award nominee Mat Maneri, the album “Songs from Afar” incorporates the thorough familiarity with modern jazz and the unmistakable voice by Transylvanian singer Gavril Tarmure in a music program with an unique identity, that transcends continents and styles alike.

“Songs from Afar is a highly personal work for me as this album is closely connected to my Romanian cultural heritage and to the jazz influences that help me discover more about the country I am coming from and about my path in the future. I am not referring to the old Transylvanian folklore songs we are rearranging in this album, but also about of the rest of the songs and improvisations that reflect the common search of the meaning of music”, Lucian Ban revealed.
Tickets may be purchased at ARCUB Box Office or online, on bilete.arcub.ro or in the Eventim ticket network and the website www.eventim.ro.
