By 2018, KazMunayGas International (KMG International) will invest over USD 6 M in automated fuel delivery systems in Romania, according to a company communiqué.
Thus, KMG International’s investment seeks to modernize and automate fuel loading-offloading systems used within its domestic storage areas but also within the terminals of the Petromidia Navodari refinery, the biggest refinery in Romania and one of the most modern refineries in the Black Sea region.
According to KMG International CEO Zhanat Tussupbekov (photo C), the project is part of the measures adopted by the Group in order to consolidate and improve its supply-chain activities in Romania and is part of a wide-ranging program started in 2013. Dubbed “Change for good,” the program seeks to optimize the entire range of refinery – petrochemical, trading – supply chain, retail – marking and upstream – industrial services operations.
“Its completion will ensure a 30 per cent drop in fuel loading-offloading time, the automation of the document verification and issuance process, as well as the lowering of losses, the traceability of products and real-time management of stocks,” Tussupbekov stated, quoted by Agerpres.
The project focuses on 6 fuel storage areas (Arad, Craiova, Mogosoaia, Simleul Silvaniei, Vatra Dornei and Zarnesti) and 5 terminals belonging to the Petromidia Navodari refinery, including the terminals operated by the company in the Port of Midia – namely the Pier 4 and Pier 9 liquefied petroleum gas terminal.
Rompetrol’s fuel distribution chain consists of over 740 gas stations (Rompetrol, Rompetrol Partner, Rompetrol Express, internal 9 and 20 cubic meter bases), 230 LPG stations, 9,000 gas cylinder distribution points, 3 LPG bottling stations in Constanta, Arad and Bacau and 8 storage areas (Arad, Craiova, Mogosoaia, Simleul Silvaniei, Vatra Dornei, Zarnesti, Onesti and one within Petromidia Refinery).
According to the company’s data, in the first nine months of this year the domestic sales registered by KMG Group subsidiaries (Rompetrol Rafinare, Rompetrol Downstream and Rompetrol Gas) reached a volume of 1.76 million tons of finished products, up by 3 per cent compared to the same period last year.
