The NATO Southeast Division Multinational Command is activated

The NATO Southeast Division Multinational Command (HQ MND-SE) in Bucharest is activated starting with Tuesday through an official ceremony in the presence of the National Defence Minister, Mihnea Motoc and of the Chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca.

According to a release sent to AGERPRES by the Ministry of National Defence, the ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commander of the Naples Allied Joint Command, Lieutenant General Alain Parent.

After the activation ceremony, a detachment of the HQ MND-SE has marched within the National Military Parade in the Constitution Square.

The establishment of this NATO command-control structure is counting, alongside the activation in September this year of the NATO Forces Integration Unit (NFIU-NATO Force Integration Unit) for the measures set in the Alliance’s Action Plan for the increase of the operational capacity, as adopted at the Wales’ NATO Summit in 2014.
