President Klaus Iohannis conferred the “Cultural Merit” award to the Cargo music band on December 1, on the day it marked 30 years of existence, a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette and quoted by Evenimentul Zilei shows.
The decree, dated December 1 and signed by President Iohannis, confers the “Cultural Merit” Award, Knight Degree, Category B, “Music,” to Adrian Armand Barar, Adrian Gabriel Igrisan, Octavian Pilan, Ionut Rovin Carja and Florin Iuliu Barbu, members of the Cargo band, as well as to music agents Cosmin Petru Nicoara and Catalin Richard Pulpa. According to the decree, the award was conferred “on the occasion of 30 years of existence of the Cargo band, for special contribution to the promotion of rock music in Romania and for enriching the patrimony of this musical genre, for remarkable musical performances.”
The decree was published in the Official Gazette on Friday, December 4, however the announcement was not made by the Presidency as customary for such events.
Moreover, no award ceremony was organized at the Presidential Palace. According to the Presidency’s customs, such a ceremony could be organized after the decree is signed, but such an event has not been officially announced so far.
