US Ambassador Hans Klemm met the members of the Lower Chamber’s Foreign Relations Commission on Tuesday. The solid partnership between Romania and the United States is “the foundation and the argument in favour of the joint ability” to ensure security, democracy and prosperity for the United State and Romania, the US Ambassador stated on this occasion, Agerpres informs.
He pointed out that he wants to explain the priorities of the US in Romania and to have the “time” to review a series of meetings that took place two weeks ago.
In his turn, Lower Chamber lawmaker Laszlo Borbely (UDMR), Chairman of the Foreign Policy Commission, emphasized that Romania is interested in the partnership with NATO and in the strategic bilateral partnership.
“We are at the eastern border of the EU and NATO, so we are interested in this NATO partnership and of course in the strategic bilateral partnership. (…) It is a support and a clear sign in this very difficult moment, when we saw the climate change talks in Paris, but also the terrorist attacks, it is important to show solidarity in what concerns the fundamental values of democracy and to fight together against terrorist attacks. And I hope Romania is one of the partners that has proven throughout these years that it can be a reliable strategic partner,” Laszlo Borbely pointed out.
