Ex-President Basescu’s Popular Movement is officially a party

The Bucharest Court approved on Tuesday the request to grant the status of a juridical person Popular Movement, led by Traian Basescu and to register the group in the registry of political parties.

“It grants juridical person and orders the registration of political group The Popular Movement in the registry of political parties held at the Bucharest Court. With the right of appeal”, the decision of the Court shows.

The request of registration was submitted in Court on November 2, and the founding members of the party are Traian Basescu, Eugen Tomac, Cristian Diaconescu and Dorel Onaca.

On October 24, there was the Foundation Congress of political group Popular Movement, and the 5,000 delegates voted Traian Basescu’s election as President of the party.

The leadership of the group also includes Eugen Tomac, Executive President, Cristian Diaconescu and Siegfried Muresan, Prime Vice-Presidents, Dorel Constantin Onaca, Secretary general. The new group will also have two Deputy Secretaries General, Rizia Tudorache and Stefan Burlacu.

Traian Basescu joined the Popular Movement on October 9, and soon, he proposed the change of the name of the party in the Popular Movement.
