President Iohannis to address Parliament on Wednesday, a year after taking up office

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis will address Parliament on Wednesday, to deliver a message a year after having taken up office.

Iohannis is scheduled to speak from 11 a.m.

The Romanian legislature’s joint Permanent Bureaus decided on Monday that the president should deliver his address before the debates on the 2016 state budget.

“Wednesday morning, before the beginning of the debates on the budget, the President of Romania will be present in Parliament, as he asked to deliver a message, and afterwards we will begin debating the budget”, Senate Speaker Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said.

Iohannis sent a letter to the Parliament leadership on Dec. 11 asking to address the legislature on the occasion of marking a year in office.

Iohannis took up as President of Romania on Dec. 21, 2014.
