Many products from abroad that are imported to Romania are sold because they are of the cheapest segment, yet in this way, the population is poisoned and the Romanian producer, killed, said on Friday the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, Achim Irimescu on visiting the ‘Christmas Fair’.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to promote the Romanian products, on one hand, and on the other hand, to guarantee the Romanian producer and consumer a corresponding protection because, unfortunately, many products that reach Romania are sold because they are of the cheapest segment and we practically poison the population and kill the Romanian producer. I repeat: any government has the duty to defend both its producers and consumers. Because of this, I believe we didn’t do enough so far and I promise you I’ll do my best to help the Romanian [citizen] consume as many Romanian products,” said Achim Irimescu.
He added he will reintroduce the border control over the pesticide, chemical products’ residues, on the grounds that in many cases of the ‘lower range’ products that reach the Romanian market, banned pesticides on the EU market are used.
