US Navy detachment offers toys to some underprivileged children in Bucharest

The Navy Detachment with the US Embassy in Bucharest has offered on Saturday over 200 toys to the disadvantaged children located into two relevant centres of Bucharest.

According to a release by the US Embassy to Romania, five marines have visited the Casa Agar Maternal Centre of Touched Romania centre and the Pinocchio Placement Centre to offer the toys.

The initiative is part of the global campaign of annually toy raising of the US Navy Corps, called ‘Toys for Tots’, on Christmas holidays.

I’m very proud of the efforts of the remarkable US Navy Detachment to bring to these kids a piece of joy on Christmas and I appreciate that these wonderful marines have chosen to continue this noble, generous tradition. Especially in this particular period of the year, it is paramount to remember how important is to take care of our future generations and make sure that they grow in a safe, family environment, said US ambassador Hans Klemm, according to the said source.

The programmes operated by ‘Touched Romania’ aim at the mothers that have been victims to domestic violence and are in danger to abandon their children, while the Pinocchio Placement Centre receives and hosts street children in emergency situations.
