Former President Traian Basescu visits Poland

Popular Movement leader Traian Basescu left for Warsaw on Monday. The announcement was made by the former head of state on Facebook. The former president will take part in a debate on the foreign policy of former Polish President Lech Kaczynski.

“At the invitation of Polish President Andrej Duda, I will take part, on December 21 in Warsaw, in a debate on the foreign policy of former Polish President Lech Kaczynski. The debate will also occasion an analysis of the current security situation in the region. The former presidents of Estonia, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Georgia will also take part in the debate,” the former head of state wrote.

Responding to a comment that read “Who will pay for your trip? We, the stupid taxpayers, again,” Basescu answered: “Don’t be alarmed and don’t worry, all expenses (transport, lodging and personal car in Warsaw for me and the two persons accompanying me) are covered by the Polish side. Or even so this is also paid by you?”
