The unemployment rate stood at 6.5pct in Q3, down by 0.2pct compared to the previous period, while the employment rate of the working age population (15-64 years old) stood at 63.2pct, data published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) shows.
According to the survey, during the period considered, the employment rate among the age category 20-64 was 67.8pct, 2.2pct under the national target of 70pct set as part of Europe 2020, EU’s growth strategy.
In 2015 Q3, Romania’s active population totalled 9.37 million people, of whom 8.757 million people were employed and 613,000 were unemployed.
In the period July-September, the unemployment rate in Romania stood at 6.5pct, down by 6.7pct compared to Q2, and the unemployment rate among the 15-24 age group reached the highest level, namely 19.9pct. The employment rate among this age group stood at 26.7pct.
